Learning First Pillar #1: Why Culture is the Real Instructional Priority
Most schools don't have a culture problem. They have a clarity problem about what culture is supposed to look like — and who's responsible for building it.
Principals are critical in building this culture and it has to be intentional. In Learning First’s number one pillar for Instructional Leaders. We must have strong relationships, communication and ensure that the vision and mission is not only clear to all, but meaningful for everyone.
Oftentimes since we care about instruction, we skip culture and go straight to learning. However, just like kids that can’t learn without strong relationships and purpose, neither can teachers. We must build culture first.
